CRAVEN COUNTY, NC (WITN) – A new club is starting at a local elementary school here in the East. The club will help students, especially military students, overcome obstacles and build important life skills.
The club is called Anchored 4 Life and student leaders at Arthur Edwards Elementary School in Havelock learned what the club is all about and how to take that information back to fellow students.
The club is part of a larger program in schools around the world. It was created by motivational speaker Trevor Romain, and this club was funded by a grant through The Marine Corps.
The group will help students with public speaking, bullying, and homework. But they will also focus on helping military children cope with going to a new school or leaving school, and also dealing with their parents deploying.
This is the first club of its kind in Craven County and counselors hope it will soon enter other schools.
